Lois Marie Randall 70; The Woman On The Electric-powered chair Has Passed Away From A Deadly Crash: As per the Salem Police Department (SPD), a woman who was seated in an electric chair died in a crash that occurred in Salem early on Wednesday. On Wednesday, first responders were called to the northeast intersection of Liberty and River streets in Salem at around 9:45 a.m., in reference to a collision between an individual seated in an electric wheelchair and a vehicle.
The SPD reports that during the first investigation, the Salem Police Traffic Team discovered that a woman in a motorized chair was struck by a car heading north on Liberty Street as she attempted to cross the street from east to west. According to witnesses in the neighborhood, the woman, identified as 70-year-old Lois Marie Randall, entered the road near incoming traffic at the time of the incident, according to Salem police.
After being transported to Salem Health Hospital, SPD stated that Randall passed away from her crash-related injuries. The 36-year-old driver of the vehicle, Jami Lee Duhrkoop, remained at the site and has been assisting Salem police with their investigation. The investigation resulted in a brief closure of Northbound Liberty Street between River and South streets, however it has already reopened.
