VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Following an armed robbery on Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) detectives have successfully apprehended four suspects with the aid of advanced license plate reader technology.
The incident, which occurred on June 13, 2024, at 2:23 AM, prompted an immediate response from VBPD officers to the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue. The detectives utilized traffic and license plate reader cameras to swiftly identify and track the suspect vehicle to Newport News.
In a coordinated effort with the Newport News Police Department, the vehicle was intercepted and four individuals were arrested. Ahmad Goodwin, 27, from New Jersey; Zaden McFarland, 19, from Chesapeake; and Jaheen Tynes, 21, from Hampton were charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Additionally, a 17-year-old male faces charges including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, juvenile possession of a firearm, and the use of a mask.
