Liam McAleer Cause of Death: Liam McAleer, a devoted husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Beaconsfield, Montreal, at the age of 68. Born on December 1, 1955, in Dublin, Ireland, Liam immigrated to Canada as a young man, where he built a life marked by love, hard work, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Liam was a graduate of McGill University, where he earned a degree in engineering. He went on to have a successful career in the aerospace industry, working for over three decades at Bombardier Aerospace. Known for his sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail, Liam was instrumental in several key projects that advanced the field and brought pride to his team and colleagues. Even in retirement, his passion for innovation and problem-solving never waned.
A proud resident of Beaconsfield for more than 40 years, Liam was actively involved in local affairs. He served on various committees, coached youth sports, and was a beloved member of his neighborhood. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand made him a pillar of the community. Whether it was organizing block parties or volunteering at local events, Liam’s presence brought people together and fostered a strong sense of camaraderie.
Liam’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Margaret, for 45 years, and a loving father to their two children, Fiona and Sean. Liam cherished every moment with his family, whether it was camping trips in the Laurentians, Sunday dinners, or simply sharing stories and laughter around the kitchen table. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Grandpa Liam,” held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in watching them grow.
Liam is survived by his wife, Margaret McAleer; his children, Fiona Reynolds (Thomas) of Toronto, and Sean McAleer (Claire) of Vancouver; his grandchildren, Aidan, Sophie, and Liam Jr.; his sister, Kathleen O’Brien of Dublin; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Mary McAleer, and his brother, Declan McAleer.
A funeral mass will be held in Liam’s honor on September 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church in Beaconsfield, followed by a burial at the Beaconsfield Cemetery. The family invites all who knew Liam to join them in celebrating his life and the many ways he touched the lives of others. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
Liam McAleer will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy of love, service, and community will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
