Lewisburg Man Arrested for Public Intoxication, Obstruction After Repeated 911 Incidents

LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Lewisburg man was arrested early Monday morning after multiple encounters with law enforcement for public intoxication and an open 911 call.

According to the Lewisburg Police Department, Patrolman Thomas responded to a 911 open line call around 2:13 a.m. on June 2 in the 400 block of Mayapple Trail. Upon arrival, officers located the caller, identified as Fredy Anastacio, standing in the roadway and unable to maintain his balance.

Police say this was not the first encounter with Anastacio. The previous evening, June 1 at approximately 8:12 p.m., officers had responded to a call involving Anastacio lying in the grass and reportedly becoming violent with a caller near Ruby Tuesday on Jefferson Street. He was found heavily intoxicated, unable to stand, and unable to communicate with a Spanish-speaking translator or provide his address.

After eventually identifying his residence, officers gave Anastacio a courtesy ride home and warned him to remain there for his safety.

Despite the warning, Anastacio was found outside again hours later, appearing intoxicated and placing another call to 911. Officers say his behavior posed a continued risk to himself and others.

Anastacio was arrested on charges of public intoxication and obstructing an officer. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail.
