Leo Reeves Obituary, Death; – The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is currently gathering information regarding the events that led to a deputy-involved shooting resulting in a man’s death.
On Wednesday afternoon, a Harnett County deputy fatally shot an individual following a report of a domestic disturbance. Deputy Calvin Johnson responded to a residence on Neills Creek Road in Lillington after receiving information about a man armed with a knife who was threatening another person, as stated in an official release.
According to deputies, Johnson made several attempts to deescalate the situation. After repeated efforts, he discharged his firearm at the individual in an effort to prevent him from advancing with the weapon.
On Thursday, authorities confirmed the identity of the deceased as Leo Reeves, who succumbed to his injuries at WakeMed. He was 31 years old. Deputy Johnson has been employed with the HCSO since June 2024 and possesses over 11 years of experience in law enforcement. The investigation is being conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
