Laverne Tripp has passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, he was 80 years old. Laverne’s dedication to expanding God’s Kingdom made him a truly special man. His journey from drugs and the secular music world to a life devoted to Christ touched countless lives and encouraged many to accept Jesus as their savior.
LaVerne has been recognized on a global scale since 1973 and has traveled extensively for nearly 60 years. Over one million individuals have professed Jesus as their Lord as a result of his ministry.
Early Life
LaVerne Tripp began performing in front of an audience when he was just two and a half years old. He was born on April 11th, 1944 in Chocowinity, North Carolina. Since that time, his urge to sing has never been less in his heart.
He began his musical career by performing at local churches while he was still a student. He went on to become a member of a number of organizations, including The Rangers Quartet, Sierras, Jubilee Quartet, and Palmetto State Quartet.
As the lead singer for the Blue Ridge Quartet, he became a member of the group in 1968. As a result of his improved composition and singing abilities, the Blue Ridge Quartet was able to achieve unprecedented success. Because to the addition of LaVerne, the Blue Ridge Quartet was able to experience a meteoric rise in popularity for a period of six years in a row.
Ministry
In 1974, LaVerne departed the Blue Ridge Quartet and transitioned to a career as an evangelist through music and proselytizing, accompanied by his wife, Edith, and their two sons, Robb and Terry. In 1979, they relocated from Spartanburg, SC, to Orange County, CA, and became members of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).
For 26 years, the LaVerne Tripp family’s musical television program reached millions of viewers each week. Additionally, they ministered in over 200 congregations, traveling more than 100,000 miles annually. In 1994, they relocated from California to Hendersonville, TN, where they established a recording studio. They have assisted hundreds of other singers and songwriters in fulfilling their vocation to share the gospel.
As a result of the departure of his oldest son, Robb (December 9, 2021), and his wife, Edith (February 17, 2022), LaVerne entered a new phase of ministry. He was driven by a desire to see individuals who were ensnared in addictions achieve the same level of liberation that he had himself experienced many years prior
