Larry Young Obituary, Death – It is with deep regret that we must inform you of the passing of Larry G. Young, who resided in Essex, Iowa, and was born in Red Oak, Iowa. Larry G. Young passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving behind close friends and family members to grieve his passing. It is encouraged that friends and family members share their sympathies with the family by posting them on this memorial page and sharing them with the family. Larry Gene Young came into this world in Red Oak, Iowa, on July 7, 1951, to parents Robert and Marice (Almquist) Young. They had a son named Larry Gene Young.
Larry passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, while working the land, a pastime he deeply loved. He accomplished the art of everlasting sleep. The Essex area was Larry’s childhood home. He was a part of the 1969 graduating class of Essex High School. Wayne State University offered a Physical Education major, so he transferred after a year at Iowa Western Community College. At long last, he received his diploma from Wayne State. He wed Kelly Hansen on December 17, 1977, at Shenandoah’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fortunately, this relationship yielded three children: Toby, Andy, and T.J. The family was adamant on making Essex their home. While growing up, Larry held a number of professions, including management roles at Pizza Hut, Eaton Manufacturing, and Howards Clothing. Farming became his full-time occupation in 1976, and he never looked back. Up until his untimely death, he continued to work in his field.
Larry is very extroverted and has never been alone. He is able to talk to anyone. Seeing his children and, subsequently, his grandkids play was something he relished. He served as president three times for the Essex Community Schools board of education, was a member of the Essex Optimist Club for more than twenty-two years, and was an active member of Shenandoah’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Larry loved being a member of men’s softball, playing cards, and, above all else, being a family man. Additionally, he took pleasure in rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
