Paul Jason Klein, the 36-year-old singer of the band LANY, has provided a health update following a serious accident in which he was hit by a car. On Tuesday, June 11, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native shared several images of his injuries in a joint Instagram post with his band, revealing the need to postpone upcoming shows for their “A Beautiful Blur: The World Tour.”
“Hey everyone – on Thursday night of last week, I got hit by a car while I was on my Vespa heading home from the gym,” Klein wrote alongside a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed. “I don’t really remember anything after the collision… I woke up on a stretcher being put into an ambulance.”
In the first photo of the post, Klein can be seen with his eyes closed, his face covered in blood from injuries to his forehead, cheekbone, and chin. Another image shows him sitting with a bandage over his leg, displaying bruises on his face and knees.
“I’ve cried a lot of thankful and happy tears during the last few days. I know how fortunate I am to still be here,” added Klein, whose past relationships include Dua Lipa and Nicola Peltz Beckham. “All of my vitals are good, but walking and moving around is still a challenge. I’m getting progressively better though and will be at 100% really soon.”
The joint caption, also shared on Twitter, revealed that LANY would be rescheduling their upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to allow Klein to recover. “The doctors have advised we reschedule our upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to fast-track my recovery,” the caption read. “For those of you that have purchased a ticket for AUS/NZ, hold onto them and the new dates will be released shortly. Thank you for understanding.”
According to the band’s website, LANY was set to perform in Australia on June 19, June 21, June 23, June 26, and June 28, with a show in New Zealand on June 30.
“This experience has only intensified the feelings of purpose I have, so I can’t wait to heal up and get back to it,” Klein wrote. “All other tour dates are staying the same. I love you and this life deeply! See you soon .”
The post concluded with a photo of Klein recovering at home, giving a thumbs up to the camera with a bruised eye. Despite the setback, Klein’s positive outlook and gratitude shine through as he focuses on his recovery and looks forward to returning to the stage.
