Lana Testa Obituary – Investigators reported that a 74-year-old woman lost her life and a 79-year-old man was hospitalized with severe injuries following a collision on a Massachusetts highway on Saturday. The Massachusetts State Police stated that troopers arrived at the scene of the single-car accident on the southbound lanes of Interstate 495 in Bridgewater around 3:18 p.m.
According to State Police, initial findings suggest that a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling on Interstate 495 when, for reasons still being investigated, it veered into the wooded median of the road and overturned.
The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Lana Testa, 74, from Mashpee, was declared deceased at the scene. A 79-year-old man, also from Mashpee, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
In response to the crash, a unique blood transfusion truck was dispatched. This marked the second deployment of the unit.
The blood transfusion truck is owned by the Canton Fire Department and offers blood transfusions en route to the hospital. It is capable of responding to calls within a 30-minute radius across 25 communities.
Canton firefighters collaborated with a trauma surgeon at Boston Medical Center to develop this program.
