MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Someone in Charlotte rang in the new year by purchasing a sprawling lakefront home.
On Jan. 3, the gated property at the end of Sweetleaf Place sold for $5.6 million. Sitting on 11 acres along the shores of Lake Wylie, its main house is a staggering 15,000 square feet.
According to Realtor.com, the behemoth is flanked by an eight-car garage, and spans two-and-half stories with a fully finished basement. It’s part of The Sanctuary subdivision off Shopton Road West and is direct neighbors with two undeveloped plots.
There are seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 39 rooms in all.
Other features include:
- 1,500 square-foot guest house
- Elevator
- Wet bar
- Home theater
- In-ground pool
- Floating dock with boat lift
The home may be far off the beaten path relative to the rest of Mecklenburg County – it’s five miles to the nearest grocery store – but its location is convenient by boat to the Drift restaurant, Treasure Island and the South Point Beach Park.
The selling agent was Ben Bowen with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
County real estate records show the property last sold for $1.8 million in 2005, and was valued at $5.5 million in January 2024.
