Lacy Roger Death – At the funeral of Lacy Roger. In spite of the fact that I never had the opportunity to collaborate with him, his daughter Carla Smith is the one who instructs my son Kenneth. I believe that the qualities of love and wisdom that she instills in her pupils are traits that she inherited from her father. As you can see, the desire for public duty and community that both teachers and police officers have is quite similar. I didn’t even realize that Carla was his daughter until maybe early this year. I had no idea that she was his daughter. I was there at the Wounded Warrior Banquet, when people were sharing anecdotes about his ability to show compassion.
When I thought about Lacy, I recalled the many things I had heard about her when I was competing for Precinct 4 and even today. Today is the day when I came to the realization that “Lacy’s Legacy” is what made Precinct 4 feel so much like a family. Integrity, accountability, empathy, humility, resilience, vision, impact, and optimism are some of the terms that were repeatedly spoken over the course of the conversation. Not only did he pass on such qualities to his own children, but he also passed them on to Judge Magee and Retired Constable Alvin Wyatt.
It is now that those two individuals have instilled such characteristics in both me and Constable Brian Cosme.

I hereby swear to treat our county in the same manner as Lacy, who has based his life after the teachings of the Bible.
