Kyle Fitzgerald Obituary, Death; – A man from St. Louis is facing legal charges following an incident in which he allegedly shot and killed another individual near a gas station late last year.
Deandre Johnson, aged 31, has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm in relation to the death of Kyle Fitzgerald on December 15, 2024.
Shortly after midnight on December 15, law enforcement was summoned to the vicinity of Kingshighway Boulevard and St. Louis Avenue in north St. Louis. Officers discovered a 22-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was immediately transported to a medical facility, but unfortunately, medical personnel were unable to save his life.
An employee at the convenience store reported that the shooting originated from a robbery at the corner. The employee stated that a dispute ensued, during which the victim, later identified as Kyle Fitzgerald from House Springs, attempted to pursue the suspect, only to be shot moments later.
As detailed in the probable cause statement, surveillance footage captured Johnson brandishing a firearm inside the gas station shortly before the shooting occurred. He was then seen walking towards an abandoned house located across the street.
The probable cause statement further indicated that security footage outside the gas station depicted Fitzgerald conversing with an individual in a vehicle before he proceeded toward the same area across the street. The video subsequently shows Johnson approaching the victim, with “two muzzle flashes visible on the video,” as noted in the probable cause statement.
When law enforcement presented Johnson with a still image from the security footage, he reportedly recognized himself, according to the probable cause statement. Johnson, who was already in custody for an unrelated homicide, has been ordered to remain detained without bond.
