Krystal Akers Obituary – Virginia State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that took place on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 2:29 p.m. The incident occurred on Interstate 66 westbound at the 46-mile marker in Prince William County. The sequence of events unfolded when a disabled 2019 Hyundai Tucson had pulled over onto the right shoulder of the interstate. Unfortunately, a 2018 Isuzu NPR HD truck, which was traveling in the same direction on Interstate 66, veered off the right side of the road and collided with the disabled Tucson. As a result of the impact, the Tucson struck the jersey wall and was forcefully propelled approximately 400 feet along the shoulder.
Tragically, two individuals in the Tucson, namely Krystal Akers, a 27-year-old resident of Dublin, Va., and an 11-year-old female, succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital. The driver of the Tucson, a 51-year-old individual from Dublin, Va., sustained serious injuries, as did a three-month-old infant who was also present in the vehicle. Additionally, another passenger, aged 55, suffered minor injuries.
Regarding the Isuzu truck, the driver, a 26-year-old man from Hyattsville, Md., sustained minor injuries, while a 23-year-old male passenger suffered severe injuries. At present, charges are pending, and the Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
