Kory McCrimmon Obituary, Easterhouse Football Academy player passed away after a knife incident: Easterhouse Football Academy is mourning the tragic loss of Kory McCrimmon, who passed away yesterday following a knife incident on Friday night. The club issued a heartfelt statement:
“Today, our former player Kory passed away after a knife incident on Friday night. A 16-year-old kid who played for our 2008 age group only a few months ago is heartbreaking. Football brings people together and forms teammates and friends for life – happy times win, lose, or draw – but on days like today, when we lose a young person in a senseless incident, it is unthinkable and hard for Kory’s coaches and teammates. We can’t imagine what Kory’s family is going through. We need to try to educate the younger generation about the dangers of carrying a knife and the devastation that it can cause.”
Police Scotland Greater Glasgow also released a statement:
“A 16-year-old male youth who was seriously injured during a disturbance in the Cranhill area of Glasgow has died in hospital. He has been named as Kory McCrimmon from Glasgow. Emergency services were called to Greenfield Park in Eskbank Street around 8:15 PM on Friday, 31 May 2024, and the victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on the afternoon of Sunday, 2 June.
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 3 June 2024. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
This incident underscores the urgent need for education about the dangers of knife violence and its devastating impact on families and communities. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Kory’s family, friends, and teammates during this incredibly difficult time.
