Konner Lynne Hayes Obituary – Harvey County highway crash on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a woman, as confirmed by authorities. The incident occurred at 1:42 p.m. on Interstate 135, approximately 2 miles south of Newton. As per the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2017 Hyundai Accent traveling northbound on I-135 veered across the median for reasons unknown, leading to a collision with a 2024 Freightliner semitrailer heading southbound on the highway.
The driver of the Hyundai, Konner Lynne Hayes, 29, from Newton, was declared deceased at the scene. It was noted by the patrol that Hayes was not wearing her seat belt. On the other hand, the semi driver, Salpyyev Suleyman, 44, from Jacksonville, Fla., was reported to have escaped unharmed. The patrol mentioned that Suleyman had his seat belt fastened.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, according to the patrol.
