Keysha Fikes Obituary, Death; – A Birmingham man is charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend in June, 2024 after after she died from injuries she sustained during an alleged domestic violence assault.
Roosevelt Smith, 63, was initially arrested in 2024 for domestic violence after 51-year-old Keysha Fikes was found badly beaten on June 29 in the 900 block of 46th Street North at around 12:40 a.m. Fikes was transported to UAB Hospital where, on Oct. 26, she succumbed to her injuries.
Birmingham Police Department Homicide and Special Victims Unit detectives learned on Tuesday, Feb. 4 that the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Fikes’ death a homicide. That day, the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office issued a warrant for murder on Smith. Smith is being held in the Jefferson County Jail where he has no bond.
