Kerry Carter,Deffenia Lynch Obituary, Death; – Hutto police have confirmed the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives in an apparent murder-suicide incident that occurred last week. The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Kerry Carter, 58-year-old Deffenia Lynch, and 41-year-old Iosha Shaw.
Authorities have not disclosed the relationship among the three individuals or the circumstances that led to the shooting. According to Hutto police, at approximately 9:15 a.m. on February 27, officers received a call from a man who reported that he had shot two individuals and intended to take his own life.
In response, police established an incident command involving multiple agencies, including the Hutto Fire Department, Williamson County Emergency Management, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Pct. 4 Constable’s office, Hutto ISD, EMS, and other law enforcement partners, as stated by Hutto Police Chief Jeffrey Yarbrough during a press conference on February 28.
Upon arriving at the residence located in the 200 block of Seaholm Lane, near Carol Drive and Mager Lane, officers attempted to communicate with the man when they heard a gunshot emanating from within the home.
Officers subsequently entered the residence and discovered the bodies of three adults—one male and two females, including the suspect. During the investigation of the crime scene, officers located a vehicle in a closed garage that was filled with smoke. Both the vehicle and the house were found to contain accelerants.
As a precautionary measure, additional fire and arson specialists were summoned to evaluate the garage and vehicle for any potential risks or hazards. Fortunately, there was no threat to individuals or property in the surrounding area.
Authorities have confirmed that no further victims were discovered and that there is currently no threat to public safety. Chief Yarbrough noted that there is a history of calls to the residence, although they are minor and related to medical issues.
