Kenneth Raymond Howard, affectionately known as Ken to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly. He was announced dead on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Ken Howard died at the age of 78. At the time of this publication, the cause of his death has not been revealed
Ken was a devoted family man, passionate about life and gentle in his demeanor. His life was greatly enriched by his 54-year-old wife, Audrey, and their beautiful family. Ken ran Olmstead Farm Supplies for most of his career, where his reliability and friendliness made him a beloved figure among customers and coworkers. Later in life, he transitioned into a successful 30-year career as an insurance agent, earning the trust and affection of many through his honesty and generosity.
In retirement, Ken remained active and engaged with his community. He enjoyed driving for YFM, a role that allowed him to serve his community while indulging his love for people. Among his many talents, Ken was a skilled woodworker, crafting beautiful charcuterie and cutting boards that he sold locally. His passion for music also played a significant role in his life, providing comfort and joy as he played the guitar for himself and others.
Ken was an ardent supporter of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, frequently cheering on his grandchildren’s sports events from the sidelines. Above all, Ken valued his family. His life was centered around them, and he was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Known for his kindness, Ken always extended a helping hand to those he encountered.
Ken is survived by his loving family, including his proud children Anita Howard-Paton (Chris McMichael) and Timothy Howard (Holly). His joy was amplified by his role as Grandpa to Josh, Abby, Olivia, Sydney, Oliver, and Arabelle. Ken’s nieces and nephews also held special places in his heart. Born to Jack and Edna Howard of Norfolk, England, Ken was a cherished brother to Doris Risden (late Willie), Terry Howard (Kerry), and Brian Howard (Wendy). His parents and his parents-in-law, Elke and Anna DeBoer, predeceased him.

A memorial service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 9, at 11 am, followed by a celebration of life from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
