Keith Cousin Obituary, Death; – Two individuals are facing legal charges related to a deadly shooting that resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man on Monday night in Dorchester.
Darius Powell, 25, from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and Daiquan Miller, 25, from Dorchester, were arraigned on Tuesday for charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device. According to court documents, both Powell and Miller entered not guilty pleas.
Boston police reported that officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at approximately 10:24 p.m. on Monday in the vicinity of 114 Devon St. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, identified as Keith Cousin, 37, from Bayonne, New Jersey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Cousin was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Detectives from B-2 promptly began reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to identify a potential suspect,” stated the police. “They disseminated a description of two suspects along with their direction of escape to officers in the vicinity.”
Two officers on the scene observed two individuals exiting an alley near 270 Columbia Road. Upon approaching the suspects, later identified as Powell and Miller, the two allegedly fled the area. “A foot chase ensued, and officers successfully apprehended both individuals,” police reported. Investigators located two firearms in the vicinity where Powell and Miller had been running. The two men were subsequently arrested and charged.
On Tuesday, both Powell and Miller were ordered to be held without bail due to concerns regarding public safety and are scheduled to return to court for a hearing on December 17.
