Ke’Asia Young Obituary – WALB has received a statement from the aunt of the 16-year-old who was tragically killed in the Sylvester shooting on Saturday, June 15. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, I choose not to harbor any ill wishes towards the child or his family. Instead, I personally pray that God grants him the grace he needs during this difficult time. It is truly devastating that my niece’s life was taken away in such a senseless manner.
Arrangements have been made for the young girl, and they are currently underway. Two viewings were held at Fields Funeral Home in Sylvester. A private viewing for the family took place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, followed by a public viewing from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, June 21.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at the Pentecostal Full Gospel Crusade Church in Poulan.
The suspect believed to be responsible for the tragic death of the young girl has been apprehended. Kortezz Thomas, the 14-year-old suspect, was arrested on Thursday, June 20. He is now facing a charge of felony murder, as stated by the GBI.
Thomas will be taken to a youth detention center, while preparations are made for the final resting place of the young girl.
