Kaylah Love Obituary, Death; – A 15-year-old male has been charged in connection with the death of his 16-year-old girlfriend, who was discovered stabbed in a park in Chicago, according to police reports. Kaylah Love was reported missing on March 16, with her last known location being a McDonald’s, as stated in a Facebook post by Cook County Crime Stoppers on March 23.
Prosecutors informed WLS that she was seen with a classmate from Manley Career Academy High School, who was listed as her “boyfriend” in her contacts. The two were reportedly walking hand-in-hand from the McDonald’s to a park in East Garfield Park on the night her family reported her disappearance, as detailed by prosecutors to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Upon reaching the playground, surveillance footage captured the boy assaulting Love while two friends observed, according to the Sun-Times. Love was discovered fatally “stabbed and battered” on March 17 at the playground, close to where the attack was recorded, as per a March 24 news release from the Chicago police and reporting by the Sun-Times.
The victim’s family informed WLS that police were summoned to the park on the night of the incident due to a fight, but officers merely passed through the area without exiting their vehicle. City officials are currently reviewing the police response, as reported by Block Club Chicago.
“She didn’t deserve this,” Love’s sister expressed to WGN. The teenage suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed by the police, was taken into custody on March 23, according to officials. Following a court appearance, he was ordered to remain detained, with his next court date set for April 16, as reported by WLS.
