Katiza Binti Mohamed-Sayad Obituary, Death; The Allen County Coroner has confirmed the identity of a woman who was reportedly killed by her former boyfriend in a shooting incident that occurred on Friday. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Katiza Binti Mohamed-Sayad.
The tragic event took place on Friday morning in the 3000 block of Drexel Avenue, in proximity to Oxford Street and Wayne Trace/Hessen Cassel Road. Jaskaran Singh, aged 22, was apprehended a few hours later and subsequently charged with murder.
As per documents filed in Allen Superior Court on Monday, Singh acknowledged that he shot Mohamed-Sayad. In a recorded call, he allegedly stated, “My girlfriend got shot by me.”
Upon arrival at the scene, police encountered Singh and another individual, both of whom were questioned. Singh reportedly confessed to the officers, stating, “I confess sir,” and mentioned that he and Mohamed-Sayad had ended their relationship just two days earlier.
Singh recounted that Mohamed-Sayad knocked on his door on Friday accompanied by another man, which he claimed frightened him and prompted him to reach for his firearm. He asserted that he was unaware the gun was loaded when he discharged it.
During his police station interview, Singh inquired about Mohamed-Sayad’s condition, and upon learning of her death, he began to bang his head against the table and wall, expressing concern about the possibility of receiving a death sentence, as indicated in court documents.
The coroner’s examination revealed that Mohamed-Sayad succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest, and her death has been classified as a homicide.
