Kathryn Elizabeth Lain Death – Officials reported that a tragic head-on collision in Parker County on Sunday afternoon resulted in the deaths of four people, including two children. The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Farm Road 51, just south of Friendship Road, in the area between Springtown and Weatherford, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident involved a 43-year-old woman driving north on Farm Road 51 with three passengers: a 66-year-old man and two nine-year-old girls. Their vehicle was struck head-on by a southbound car that had veered into their lane.
While the woman survived the crash, her three passengers did not. The 66-year-old man was identified as Gregory Daniel Schilb of Springtown, but the names of the two children have not been released. The driver of the southbound vehicle, who also died in the crash, was identified as 29-year-old Kathryn Elizabeth Lain of Boyd.
Authorities have not yet determined why Lain’s vehicle veered into the northbound lane. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released.
On Monday morning, the Springtown Independent School District acknowledged the crash. Although the district did not disclose the names of the victims, they confirmed that two of the deceased were fourth-grade students in the district. Additionally, a teacher from Goshen Creek Elementary School sustained serious injuries in the accident.
In a statement, the district expressed deep sorrow: “Our hearts ache for the families of those we lost, for our entire district, and for our community as a whole. We are heartbroken to hear about any life that was lost during this tragedy. Life is so precious and way too short. During this difficult time, we ask that you hold them in your thoughts and prayers.”
