Kathaleen Houck Obituary, Death; – The Iowa State Patrol has identified a woman who tragically lost her life on Thursday following a collision between her vehicle and a train.
According to the ISP crash report, the incident occurred at approximately 10:53 a.m. on 290th Street, situated between E Avenue and F Avenue, roughly three miles southeast of Radcliffe. The vehicle, a Toyota Prius operated by 71-year-old Kathaleen Houck, was heading east on 290th Street when she did not yield to a northbound train at the railroad crossing. The train impacted the rear passenger side of the Prius.
This particular rail crossing is located on a gravel road and is equipped with flashing lights, although it lacks cross-arms. Houck was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The Iowa State Patrol is actively continuing its investigation into the incident.
