Julio Foolio Obituary, Death – On Monday, Florida authorities announced the arrest of three suspects in the murder of rapper Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones. The Jacksonville artist was fatally shot in a parking lot of an uptown Tampa hotel on June 23. The Tampa police reported that the slaying was the result of an ongoing feud between rival gangs.
The three suspects arrested on Saturday were identified as Sean Gathright, 18, Alicia Andrews, 21, and Isaiah Chance Jr., 21. Andrews and Chance face charges of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm and conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm. Gathright is charged with two counts of premeditated murder with a firearm, three counts of first-degree attempted premeditated murder with a firearm, and tampering with physical evidence. They are currently held in the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Center on murder charges, awaiting transfer to Tampa.
Two additional suspects remain at large. Rashad Murphy, 30, and Davion Murphy, 27, are each charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. Authorities have not specified if the two are related.
The investigation revealed that on the day Jones was killed, Chance and Andrews tracked him and his entourage to two separate locations. At each stop, they exited their vehicle and used a cellphone, after which a second suspect vehicle arrived. Both vehicles then followed Jones to the hotel. At the crime scene, one vehicle circled the victims’ parked cars twice before three shooters emerged from a vehicle and opened fire, killing Jones and injuring three others.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office documented Jones as a member of the “6 Block” gang. The longstanding feud between 6 Block and rival gangs ATK and 1200 has resulted in numerous murders on both sides. Chance is an ATK member, while Rashad Murphy is affiliated with 1200, and Davion Murphy is a 1200 associate. Authorities continue to investigate this complex and violent gang rivalry.
