Julia Holland Cause of Death: Julia Ann Holland, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 82. Born on March 12, 1942, in Columbus, Julia was a lifelong resident of the city she loved, and her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.
Julia graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in social work and dedicated her life to serving others. She spent over 40 years as a social worker in Franklin County, where her compassion and commitment to helping families in need left a lasting impact on the community. Julia was known for her tireless advocacy and her ability to bring comfort and hope to those facing difficult times.
Family was the center of Julia’s life. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Susan, Mark, and David, and took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to her five grandchildren. Her home was always a place of love, laughter, and delicious home-cooked meals. Julia was an excellent cook, and her family gatherings were filled with the aroma of her famous pot roast, homemade pies, and other comfort foods that brought everyone together.
Julia was also an active member of her church, where she volunteered in various ministries and was known for her deep faith and her desire to give back to her community. She found joy in gardening, reading, and spending time with her beloved dog, Max, who was her loyal companion for many years.
Julia’s kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and a life well-lived in service to others.
Julia is survived by her children, Susan Martin (Paul) of Columbus, Mark Holland (Karen) of Cincinnati, and David Holland (Jessica) of Cleveland; her grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Jacob, Olivia, and Ryan; her brother, Robert Thompson of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Holland, and her parents, William and Mary Thompson.
A memorial service to celebrate Julia’s life will be held on September 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbus. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julia’s memory to the Franklin County Food Pantry or the First Presbyterian Church’s outreach programs.
Julia Holland will be remembered for her unwavering love, her dedication to others, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know her.
