Judith Hager Obituary, Death – Following a brief illness, Judith Ann Hager, 80, of Black Creek Township, unexpectedly passed away early on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Edith (Marsh) Moyer, born on January 21, 1944, in Northampton, and had lived in Sugarloaf for the previous 50 years.
Judith was the head majorette at Northampton Area High School when she graduated in 1961. She began working for the Stimmel and Graul insurance company. Later, when attending the church where Joseph Hager was the pastor, she met the love of her life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Grove in the recent past. Judith had a wonderful voice and performed in musicals presented by the Nuremberg Community Players as well as the choir of West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed shopping and giving her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren, with gifts that she picked out, most of which came from QVC. Judy continued to work at the senior home when she retired and loved taking trips, particularly cruises.
Her brother Timothy Moyer and her devoted husband of 55 years, Rev. Joseph Hager, who died away on December 23, 2019, preceded her in death in addition to her parents. Both of her children, Taitia Shelow and her husband Scott, of Canonsburg, and Parrish Hager and his wife Emily, of Spring Grove, as well as their two grandchildren, Gavin and Dominic Shelow, of North Carolina, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews survive. At her family’s discretion, a private funeral will be arranged for her. The family’s arrangements are being handled by Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.
