Judd Reed Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified a man from Eliot, Maine, as the victim of a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday in Portsmouth.
Judd Reed, aged 70, succumbed to injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the closure of Lafayette Road northbound at the intersection with Mirona Road for approximately four hours, starting late Saturday afternoon, as reported by Portsmouth police on Tuesday.
Reed was driving a Dodge 1500 pickup truck when it collided with the rear of a Toyota Camry shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday. He suffered fatal injuries and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the Camry received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the same hospital, according to police reports.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is still ongoing as of Tuesday. “Currently, the investigation is in progress, but there is no indication that reckless driving or alcohol played a role,” stated Portsmouth police on Tuesday.
Emergency responders from both the police and fire departments in Portsmouth attended to the scene on Saturday. The city notified residents about the incident, advising them to steer clear of the area while the investigation continued into Saturday evening.
