SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A man from Moville was tried for possessing child pornography and found guilty of the charge. He was given a sentence of 11 years in federal prison for his crime. Joshua Pedersen, who is 46 years old and lives in Moville, was handed a sentence on Friday, according to an announcement made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa (US Attorney’s Office).
According to the evidence that was presented, Pedersen was found to have knowingly obtained and distributed child pornography utilizing the internet-based peer-to-peer networks ‘Kik’ and ‘Skout’ between the months of November 2018 and December 2019.
According to the officials, Pederson also admitted that he had transmitted child pornography to a juvenile in the hopes that the child would manufacture child pornography for him and send it to Pederson. Pederson’s statement was based on the fact that he had sent the child pornography to the minor.
Pederson has a history of convictions for multiple counts of failing to register as a sexual offender, in addition to his earlier conviction for the dissemination and showing of obscene photographs to minors. These convictions are on top of Pederson’s prior conviction for the dissemination and showing of obscene photos to minors.
Pederson was given a sentence of 132 months in prison, a total fine of $5,000, and he will also be required to serve a term of supervised release for a period of 5 years once he is released from prison when he is given this punishment.
