Joshua Cruz Obituary, Death; – A man who was fatally stabbed after reportedly breaking into his girlfriend’s residence over the weekend in the Grant Hill area has been identified.
Joshua Cruz, 23, was named as the victim, according to a news release from Lt. Daniel Meyer of the San Diego Police Department on Wednesday. The event took place around 12:42 a.m. in the 200 block of 28th Street.
Authorities received a call from a resident indicating that her friend’s boyfriend was trying to force his way into the home to harm the woman. Upon their arrival, police discovered Cruz with at least one stab wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, a 23-year-old woman whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody but later released while the investigation continues, as stated by the SDPD. Investigators suspect that Cruz threatened to assault his girlfriend and forcibly entered the home by kicking down the door. It was noted that Cruz did not reside at the location, while his girlfriend was present inside.
According to police, Cruz managed to enter the home and was subsequently stabbed. The inquiry into the circumstances leading to the altercation and stabbing is still ongoing.
