Joseph Roon Obituary, Death; – A man who passed away on Monday morning following a head-on collision in Grayslake has been identified as 30-year-old Joseph Roon from Lake Villa.
Initial autopsy findings indicated that Roon succumbed to blunt-force trauma resulting from the accident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. near 115 S. Route 83, as reported by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to discover two of the three vehicles involved sustained significant damage due to the apparent head-on collision, according to authorities.
Given the severity of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was called in to provide support. Preliminary investigations revealed that a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and a blue 2020 Toyota Corolla were traveling southbound on Route 83, while a black 2019 Lexus UX was heading northbound.
The Malibu, operated by Roon, collided with the rear of the Corolla before veering into the northbound lane of Route 83, where it struck the Lexus head-on, as stated by officials. Roon was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, being conducted by Grayslake police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
