Joseph Flynn Obituary – Joe, whose full name was Joseph William Edward Flynn, died suddenly after a short illness on April 4, 2024, at Saint John Regional Hospital, with his adoring family at his side. Joe, also known as “Big Joe,” came into this world in Chatham, New Brunswick on November 22, 1940. His three sons, Dr. Carl (Michelle), Gregory (Mary-Eileen), and Joseph Jr. (Amy), as well as his 56-year wife June (née Ross), are among his survivors. Adam, Jillian, Katelyn, Jack, Hannah, and Samuel were his seven grandkids.
Dr. Duncan Joseph and Meredith were his great-grandchildren. Among his other surviving stepgrandchildren are Abby Ayotte, Alec Ayotte, Adam Ayotte, Ryan Flanagan, Jack Flanagan, and Kate Flanagan. William (Emily), his brother, and his parents Carl and Alice Flynn are the last surviving members of his family. His sisters Alice Gaudet and Mary Clark passed away before him. In addition to his nieces, nephews, and cherished sister-in-law Judy Beaudin, he is survived by other in-laws. His travelling companion and beloved pet, Peanut, will miss him.
Among his many roles at Saint Rose Catholic Church, where he had been a longtime member, was that of parish council chairman. Prior to his passing, he served as Chairman of Riley Manor and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Maritime Paper, Consolidated Bathurst, McMillan Bathurst, Wilson Boxes, and Bathurst Container were some of the names that Joe worked at after graduating from St. Malachys High School. He was promoted to the position of Production Manager after climbing the corporate ladder for more than 30 years.
He then spent five years as a senior sales consultant at Weyerhaeuser Paper in Westbrook, Maine, two at MBI, and finally sixteen at Master Packaging, where he had been employed since 1989. The family is very grateful to Drs. John Desmond and Samantha Gray for the kind treatment they provided. Holy Spirit Worship Center (St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church) will have a Christian burial Mass on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 11:00 am. We will be burying the deceased at Holy Cross Cemetery.
