Joseph Alfano Death – Obituary in Moderation: Joseph Alfano of Stoughton, Massachusetts, longtime founder member and Partner of The Riff Media Group, has sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, August 08, 2023, leaving family, friends and other loved ones in total devastation and sadness. The loss of such a remarkable individual has left us all saddened and grieving. Beyond his affable personality, Joseph also possessed a remarkable ability to listen and offer support when it was needed most.
A 25+ year corporate marketing and communications veteran, Joe turned his passion for music/band promotion into an undeniable social marketing must-have for some of today’s most recognized up-and-coming bands during the Winter of 2019. Joseph, a former student of The Stoughton Public Schools was also a former student of The Xaverian Brothers High School. He also studied and graduated from The Assumption University according to his social media profiles.
Teaming up with industry-leading producer Chris Dawson (Aphotic Studios), Joe launched the first of many Facebook rock band fan groups (Saul). Since then, Joe’s passion for helping and promoting bands has continued with launching other fan communities for auspicious acts like Kingdom Collapse, Relent, and Above Snakes. When he’s not listening to/talking about music or promoting bands, Joe and his wife Cheryl are at home in Boston, MA, with their boys, Zachary and Jacob. At Riff Media Group. Joe leads the business development efforts.
Joseph’s departure has created a void that can never be filled, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. This sad news was confirmed following online statements made by several social media user. Joseph was a person who touched the lives of many through his kindness, compassion, and genuine spirit. He had a way of bringing light into every room he entered, with a smile that could brighten even the darkest of days.
Woke up today to learn of the sudden passing of Joe Alfano. Like so many of you, Joe was not only a great fan but a strong supporter of many up & coming bands. The last few years he devoted much of his time selflessly promoting independent bands & helping them build up their fan bases on social media. Many of these bands are doing big things now with Joe being a huge part of their ability to reach an audience. It’s a very somber feeling knowing I’ll never get a chance to meet Joe in person or thank him personally. Though I’m thankful that so many of my peers were able to meet him and share memories with him. RIP. ~ Kevin Lacerda (Vocalist at A FAYLENE SKY, Vocalist at DAMN NATION and Vocalist at It Lives, It Breathes)
Honestly I was waiting all day until I was struck with the right thing to say… and honestly it’s just, RIP BROTHER Joe Alfano. I’m sorry we ever had a disagreement. You were an OG EQUAL. I’m glad in the last year we made amends. You will truly be missed my friend. Photo from 2019 the very first time we met Joe and his family. And to his wife and boys. Stay strong. I know this is so tough. But you are loved and have more family and backing than you know. ~ Blake Bedsaul (Lead vocalist at SAUL)
There’s no words to describe how myself and everyone else in the band feel right now. When Jonathan called and gave me the news, all I could do was cry my eyes out. Joe was just with us all weekend doing what he loved: watching live music and supporting bands he believes in. We played our first ever sold out headliner, and I truly believe it was fate that he was there for it. We had an incredible weekend, and thankfully he was able to make it home to his family before he passed.
Since 2019, he and Jonathan have been building the KC Army. Without that group and all of your support, there’s no way we’d be in the position that we are today. There’s a good majority of us who met through one of the groups that he created. Joe loved being able to connect people through music. Anytime Joe was at one of our shows, we were always on point. His presence always brightened the room, and we looked forward to anytime he was with us hanging. He was the 5th member of Kingdom Collapse.
He knew I’d started to wear basketball jerseys live and he bought me the Celtics jersey that’s pictured to wear at our Connecticut show in September. He was one the most thoughtful and genuine humans out there. If you’ve been in the music industry, you know that’s a hard thing to come by. Rest east, Pubz. I’ll have a Sam Adams for ya today ~ Aaron Smith (Bassist at Kingdom Collapse)
Joseph’s generosity knew no bounds. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, ready to assist anyone in need. His selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond to make a positive difference in the lives of others exemplified his remarkable character. Whether it was through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or his unwavering support, Joseph touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on our lives.
I’ve seen a lot of people and bands do this today, and I’m not making it about me, but I wanted to share a little something from my guy Joe Alfano . Him and I hadn’t talked in months before this conversation. It felt random at the time, but through all of his friends, family, bands, band pages he ran, and the other million things he did…he took time for me. We messaged back and forth the whole day. His greatness can’t be overstated, and is warmth couldn’t be either. He was a great man and someone I was blessed to know. Even if I only knew him on social media his impact on me will be felt forever. Be easy Joe! I’m sorry I never got to shake your hand. ~ Steve Twitch Jamison ~ DJ at The Paradigm Media and Promotions
