Jose Manuel Clark Death – Des Moines authorities have identified the individual who passed away due to injuries sustained from a collision with a pickup truck while walking on Sunday. The tragic incident occurred in the 5400 block of SE 5th Street. Des Moines law enforcement responded to the scene shortly before noon. The pedestrian, now known as Jose Manuel Clark, 51, from Des Moines, was pronounced deceased upon their arrival.
Andi Gael Cardenas, 23, from Des Moines, has been formally charged by the police for his involvement in the collision. Cardenas faces charges of motor vehicle homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, and other minor traffic violations.
Law enforcement reported that Cardenas was previously involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in property damage before the fatal collision. After running a red light at SE 5th Street and Porter Avenue, he struck another vehicle.
Subsequently, he continued driving northbound and lost control of his vehicle, leading to a series of collisions with various objects, including two trees. Police stated that he ultimately struck the 51-year-old man who was walking southbound on the sidewalk
