Jonathan Brookin Obituary, Death; – Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a father of five in Marrero, as reported by NOLA.com. Jonathan Brookin, aged 32, was fatally shot inside his residence in Marrero on the evening of January 27.
Authorities have charged his ex-girlfriend, Subrina Honore, 32, from New Orleans, with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Additionally, Arthur Thomas, 31, from Marrero, has been identified as a second suspect and faces the same charges.
Family members of Brookin informed law enforcement that he had recently ended his relationship with Honore, who had been making threats against him on social media in the days preceding the incident, according to reports from our partners.
Deputies responded to Brookin’s residence on Sayres Drive following reports of gunfire in the vicinity around 6 p.m. According to Kayla Brookin, relatives aged 5 and 6 were found hiding under a bed during the shooting but fortunately were not harmed, as reported by NOLA.com.
Brookin and Honore had been in a relationship for less than a year. Relatives indicated that she had recently given birth and claimed he was the father. However, uncertainties regarding paternity, along with other complications, prompted Brookin to terminate the relationship, as stated by his sister.
Both Honore and Thomas are currently being held without bail at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. Brookin is fondly remembered by his family and friends as a “funny, energetic, and outrageous personality who always sought to make” others laugh.
