Jon W. Devoe was riding on Richmond Road in Litchfield when he crashed with the vehicle, trapping his motorcycle beneath it.
Before the explosion and both cars took fire, onlookers assisted in removing Devoe from under the truck.
He tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old man from Bowdoin, was pulled out with help from a bystander.
Police say it appears Devoe was speeding when he crossed into oncoming traffic.
Devoe from Litchfield worked at the Lee Auto Malls group, Maine’s largest auto dealer. He graduated from Oak Hill High School.
On social media, people who knew Jon Devoe are paying tribute to him.
