On October 27, 2011, Wilson unlawfully entered the residence located in the 6300 block of Keokuk Road by propelling a rock through the dining room window using a knit cap.
Upon O’Laughlin’s return from school, she confronted Wilson. He utilized a butcher knife taken from the kitchen’s cutlery block to repeatedly stab O’Laughlin in her back, neck, and chest. Subsequently, he moved her body from the family room to the kitchen. O’Laughlin’s mother discovered her lifeless body, and Wilson was apprehended a few days later. At that time, he was on parole with a criminal record encompassing three convictions, which included one for armed robbery.

Wilson was subsequently found guilty of her murder and handed a 160-year prison sentence. The State Department of Corrections confirmed Thursday, August 10th that he passed away on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac; however, the precise cause of his death remains undisclosed.
