John Warnock Death – John Edward Warnock was an American computer scientist, inventor, and technology businessman has died. He was the man who came up with the PDF format and helped start Adobe Systems. John Warnock passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday, August 19, 2023, while he was surrounded by family. According to a statement released by Adobe, it was confirmed that the Silicon Valley entrepreneur and computer scientist was pronounced dead.

He is most known for his role as a co-founder of Adobe Systems Inc., a graphics and publishing software company, along with Charles Geschke in 1982. During his first two years at Adobe, Warnock served as President, and during the next sixteen years at the company, he held the roles of Chairman and CEO. Despite the fact that he stepped down from his position as CEO in 2001, he remained on the Adobe Board of Directors alongside Geschke until 2017.
Warnock was a pioneer in the development of technologies that have since had a transformative effect on the fields of publishing and visual communications, such as graphics, publishing, the web, and electronic documents.
Warnock was a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society, the latter of which is the nation’s oldest learned society. All three academies recognized excellence in engineering and the arts and sciences. The University of Utah, the American Film Institute, and The University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom all conferred honorary degrees upon Warnock.
Warnock spent his entire childhood in the city of Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite the fact that he received a failing grade in mathematics while attending Olympus High School and graduating in 1958, Warnock went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and philosophy, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in electrical engineering (computer science), and an honorary degree in science from the University of Utah. All of these degrees were in science.
While he was a student at the University of Utah, he was involved in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity through the Gamma Beta Chapter. In addition to that, the American Film Institute conferred an honorary degree upon him. He and his wife Marva E. Warnock, who was also an illustrator, made their home in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are parents to three little ones.
