John Thompson Obituary – A fatal house fire on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of one man and left two others hospitalized. The fire occurred at a duplex home on Ardmore and Plainfield Roads, where firefighters found dark, black smoke emanating from multiple second floor windows.
Despite the presence of working smoke alarms, the residents remained in the house under “smoke conditions” to retrieve their belongings. The victim has been identified as John Thompson, 61, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. The names and conditions of the hospitalized individuals have not been disclosed. In response to the fire, several fire departments, including Lyndhurst, Beachwood, Mayfield Village, and Richmond Heights, were dispatched to the scene.
