Born and raised in Bastrop, Louisiana, John later moved to Ferriday, where he graduated high school. He briefly attended LSU, an experience he fondly referred to as “unsuccessful but very fun.” Shortly afterward, John joined the Navy, serving bravely in Desert Storm. He spent time stationed in the Gulf of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, developing a deep appreciation for service and duty. After his military service, he returned to Louisiana, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication, Media, and Theater from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM).
In 1998, John began his long career with K-104, where he became the heart of The Good Morning Show, connecting with listeners every day. Known for his distinct sense of humor, storytelling, and passion for the community, John became a Monroe icon. His 9 AM to 2 PM slot made him a regular voice in the homes and workplaces of countless residents.
In 2017, John made a big move to Key West, Florida, but ultimately, the K-104 family and the Monroe community drew him back. Upon his return, he joined The La105 Morning Vacation alongside Jim Elliot while continuing his solo DJ work on K-104. Throughout his career, John maintained a profound connection with his audience, sharing stories, laughs, and sometimes even tears. He was known for his kindness, approachability, and a genuine love for the people he entertained.
John’s passing leaves a void in the K-104 family and the lives of his listeners. While his cause of death remains unknown at this time, his memory continues to resonate through the music and joy he brought to Monroe.
