Joanne Carosella Obituary, Death; – Police identified the driver who died in a three-car crash on Route 63 Tuesday as Joanne Carosella. Carosella was driving a 2019 Toyota Rav4 at the time of the crash, according to Middlebury police Lt. Ronald Hunt, but further information about Carosella, including her age and area of residence, was not immediately available.
The crash occurred on the Straits Turnpike, or Route 63, north of Park Road just after 11 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. It involved Carosella in the Toyota, as well as a driver and passenger in a 2020 Cadilac Escalade and a driver of a postal vehicle, according to Hunt. He said it was reported that one car was overturned and another was on fire
Two of the three drivers, as well as the Cadillac passenger, were taken to Waterbury Hospital. It was unclear whether Carosella was one of the drivers who was transported.
