JoAnn Hochstetler Obituary – After experiencing a period of decreasing health, JoAnn Hochstetler, who was 69 years old and from Sugarcreek, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.
She was the daughter of Eli N. Yoder, who passed away, and Lucinda (Troyer) Yoder, who also passed away. She was born in Wooster on September 28, 1954. On the 29th of December in 1972, she tied the knot with her husband, Harvey Hochstetler, Jr. He is now alive.
The places of employment that JoAnn held include Genie Overhead Door in Baltic, Elasto-Tec in Walnut Creek, and Ember Complete Care in Uhrichsville, where she worked as a caregiver. Cooking, playing cards, painting pottery, and playing games were all activities that JoAnn enjoyed, but spending time with her grandchildren was her favorite.
In addition to her husband Harvey, she is survived by her children Victoria “Vicki” (John Eckstein, Jr.) Sunderman of Dennison, Lucinda “Cindi” (Jon) Forrest of New Philadelphia, Kerry (Larry, III) Flinner of Sugarcreek; grandchildren Joanna, Vince, Rick Sunderman, Alysha, Francheska, Kristofer Forrest, and Kadence Hochstetler; great grandchildren Braxton Sunderman and Graham Sunderman; sisters Esther (Jake) Hershberger of Navarre, Edna Stutzman of Berlin, Mary Jane Troyer of Lynchburg, Virginia; sisters-in-law Elva Sommers, Malinda Kurtz, Mabel Sommers, Jemima Detweiler, Lydia Ann Miller, Barbara Oswald, and Kathy Hochstetler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
It was her parents, her brother Raymond Yoder, and her brothers-in-law Roman Stutzman and John Troyer who passed away before JoAnn.The Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek will be the location of the memorial service for JoAnn, which will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm. After that, the burial will take place in the Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from four to six o’clock in the evening.
