JoAnn Brown Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her residence, JoAnn C. Brown, who was 91 years old and from Marshfield, passed away in a calm and serene manner with her family at her side. A gathering for family and friends will take place at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield beginning at nine o’clock in the morning and continuing until the time of the service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at eleven o’clock on Friday, March 22, 2024.
It will be officiated by Reverend Douglas Robertson. Interment will take place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family is receiving assistance from Rembs Funeral Home. She was the daughter of John Fischer and Theresa Hardinger Fischer and a graduate of Spencer High School. JoAnn Fischer was born on June 24, 1932 in Spencer, Wisconsin. She was graduated from Spencer High School. At St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield, Massachusetts, on October 22, 1955, she and James R. “Sonny” Brown exchanged their vows and became husband and wife. On March 11, 2015, he passed away.
Over the course of her younger years, JoAnn was employed at Marshfield Book and Stationery. At the beginning of her married life, she was employed at Brown’s Bar, which was the family business. During that time, she was a mother and a homemaker who stayed at home. She finally found employment at Wickersham Jewelry in Marshfield later in her life. While JoAnn was a breast cancer survivor, she volunteered her time at the Marshfield hospital, where she assisted patients who were undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Over the course of many years, she was a very involved member of the Our Lady of Peace Church. When she was in her 80s, she continued to be a passionate golfer and a shopper. Bakery was one of her favorite activities, especially when she could do it with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing games with them, especially dominoes. In addition to being a lovely mother and grandma, JoAnn was also everyone’s number one aunt.
Shelly Steve Pennebaker of Oak Grove, Minnesota, as well as her children Tom Brown and Mike Brown, both of Marshfield, are the only members of her family to survive her passing. An additional seven grandkids, namely Kayla Bjorneberg, Chelsea Kelly, Brandon Brown, Josie Brown, Sadie Pennebaker, Cody Pennebaker, and Reggi Brown, are among those who are left behind after her passing.
Additional members of her family who survive her include her siblings, John Rita Fischer and Jenny Jim Sternweis, both of Marshfield, and Betty Klawitter, who resides in Wisconsin Rapids. In addition to her parents and husband, Sonny, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ervin and Robert Fischer, as well as her sisters Marie Dietrich, Rosie Rupaner, Lorraine Marks, Theresa Sydow, Marcella Gliniecki, and Annie Fischer.
