Joan M. Morrison Death: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan M. Morrison (nee Urey), a long-time resident and beloved figure in the Upper Chichester community. Joan passed away on July 26, 2024, at Lankenau Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 67 years old.
Joan was a proud graduate of Ridley High School, class of 1975. She dedicated over 25 years of her life to serving as the Director of Recreation for Upper Chichester Township, retiring in 2018. Her tenure was marked by her selflessness and relentless efforts to enhance the lives of those in her community. Joan’s contributions to Upper Chichester were numerous and impactful, earning her a place in the hearts of many residents.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joan was a devoted family woman. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family, especially during the cherished Sunday Urey Family Dinners. Her legacy will be that of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter who always put others before herself.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Raymond W. Morrison; her children, Chris M. Morrison and Courtney Zook (Josh); her mother, Margaret C. Howarth Urey; her grandchildren, C.J. Morrison and Logan and Brandon Zook; and her sister, Patty A. Witt (late Chip). She was preceded in death by her father, James F. Urey, and her brothers, James R. Urey and Rick K. Urey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jackie Urey, and her former daughter-in-law, Michelle Franchetti.
A funeral service to honor Joan’s life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.

Joan Morrison’s dedication, kindness, and love for her community and family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of others. Rest in peace, Joan. You will be deeply missed.
