Jim Ferreira Granby CT Death & Obituary: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Dennis “Jim” Ferreira, 61, of Granby. Jim tragically passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Simsbury. Jim was the son of James and Theresa (Correira) Ferreira, who predeceased him. He completed his education at Somers High School in 1981.
A Dedicated Career and Passionate Hobbies
Jim’s professional career was highlighted by his 16-year tenure as a CNC programmer at Aerogear Aerospace, where he was highly regarded for his skills and dedication. Prior to this role, Jim worked as a machinist, showcasing his expertise and commitment to his craft.
Outside of work, Jim led a vibrant life filled with varied interests. A devoted fan of Manchester United Soccer, Jim also enjoyed hiking with his beloved dogs—Riley, River, and Bandit—visiting breweries, and mountain biking. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, especially his children and his cherished grandson, Olliver.
A Loving Family Man
Jim was a devoted father who cherished his children deeply. He relished in taking them to the playground, movies, skiing, teaching soccer, and embarking on bike trips. His love extended to his three elder sisters—Theresa Pilch of Greenville, North Carolina, Peggy Jaronko of Southington, and Cathy Gotta of Somers—as well as his numerous nephews and nieces. Jim’s infectious humor and warmth ensured that those around him were always smiling, and his legacy will be remembered fondly for the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of his loved ones.
Family and Surviving Loved Ones
Jim is survived by his daughter Sarah N. Bennett of Beverly, MA; his grandson Oliver Ferreira; and his sons Dylan James Ferreira and his wife Enya of Granby, and Joshua William Ferreira of Granby. His parents, James and Theresa Ferreira, preceded him in death. Jim will be deeply missed by his family, close friends, and coworkers.
Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035, on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Carmon’s, beginning at 11:00 AM. A private funeral service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory can be made to McLean’s Game Refuge, 150 Barndoor Hills Rd., Granby, CT 06035.
