Jennifer Brewington Obituary, Death; – A woman discovered deceased near fallen power lines is suspected to have succumbed to electrocution amid severe weather conditions in Missouri, according to family members and officials. Her death is among a total of twelve storm-related fatalities reported statewide as of March 15, as stated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in a news release.
This figure may increase as recovery operations progress throughout the state, which experienced intense winds and tornadoes on the night of March 14 and into the following morning. Law enforcement responded to a 911 call from a residence in Florissant, where they found a woman lying in the backyard adjacent to the downed power lines, as reported by the St. Louis County Police Department. The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Jennifer Brewington, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, it appears that Ms. Brewington was in her backyard evaluating potential damage when she came into contact with an electrical line. Her fiancé, Ethan Foss, recounted that Brewington noticed a small fire in the backyard and he advised her to call 911.
He spoke with her shortly thereafter, and everything seemed normal at the home they shared with Brewington’s mother, as reported by KSDK. Brewington informed him that she intended to go to bed and would see him in the morning, Foss relayed to the outlet. After a few minutes, her mother observed that the back door was open—an unusual occurrence due to their pets—and subsequently saw her near the power lines, prompting her to call 911, Foss explained.
He expressed feeling “numb” and mentioned that he was planning to marry Brewington in October. Florissant is located approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis.
