Jean Burke Obituary, Death – When we learned that our much loved Jean Burke had died away this afternoon, we were overcome with a profound sense of sorrow. Her presence was like a ray of sunshine that illuminated every doorway she opened. On the morning of November 8th, she passed away in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving husband, Brian. She had been experiencing a peaceful passing. Jean’s parents, Evelyn and Chesley Stevenson, as well as her siblings Jim Stevenson and Carol Ann Merner, her brother’s in-laws Gerald Field and Frank Linegar, and her parents’ in-laws Kathleen and Joseph Burke, all passed away before her.
Jeannie’s memory will be carried on by her husband Brian, who was her lifelong companion and companion in adventure, as well as by her numerous brothers and sisters, including Bill Stevenson (Elaine), Marion Murphy (Frank), Heather Hussey, Louis Stevenson (Ruby), Deanna Field, Pearl Stevenson (Robert), Ches Stevenson (Kristina), and Ed Merner, as well as by her brothers and sister-in-law, including Carol Anne Dunphy (Don), Brenda Burke, Sheilagh Linegar, Sean Burke (Gigi), Ian Burke, and Kimberly Burke (Walter).
Jeannie’s jovial nature and passion for life will live on in the memories of her cherished friends Charlotte and Bud, who were her closest companions throughout her life. Many of Jeannie’s devoted nieces and nephews, in addition to the entire cabin community, continue to carry on the great amount of love that Jeannie had for her family and the natural world. Many individuals considered Jeannie a special person or friend, and the number of people in her enormous circle of family and friends is simply too great to name alone. The intensely competitive nature that Jeannie shows both on the fishing boat and at the card table will remain in the atmosphere of the cabin for all time.
When sitting on the patio with a drink and staring at the sunset, ensure Jeannie is in your thoughts. Think of Jeannie’s motions and the jokes she often tells while you are dancing in front of a large group of people. If you dip your toes into it, it is possible to hear her voice boasting about being the first person to enter the pond. Imagine Jeannie’s snowmobile rides through the lovely landscape when you watch the snow falling. In addition to eating, drinking, and having a good time during Christmas, you should do your best to match Jeannie’s enthusiasm for the holiday season. Be the light that we are missing with the departure of this incredible, powerful, and beautiful woman.
Hold your loved ones near you, just like Jeannie did, and be the light we are missing. For everything they did, as well as the amazing home care she received in her final days, we would like to extend our special gratitude to Dr. Erin Powell and the extraordinary team at the cancer center. Barrett’s Funeral Home, located at 328 Hamilton Avenue, will be having a visitation on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Anglican Cathedral on Monday, November 13, 2023 at ten o’clock in the morning. The burial will take place in the Anglican Cemetery located on Kenmount Road.
