Jaye Robinson Obituary-Death News; Toronto Councillor, Jaye Robinson Passes Away After Battling With Breast Cancer
Following a battle with breast cancer, Toronto councilwoman Jaye Robinson passed away. Her passing was disclosed by her office on Friday. The statement continued, “We are very sorry to inform you that Councillor Jaye Robinson passed away last night in front of her family.
Don Valley West is represented by Robinson as of 2010. She loved the people of Ward 15, was a passionate speaker on city council, and coached her team. The office declared it an honor to collaborate with her.
Robinson said in 2019 that she will be leaving City Hall to receive treatment for breast cancer. During COVID-19, work was resumed. The reason of death was not given. She was sixty-one years old.
According to her website, she is divorced and has three sons and a cocker spaniel. Jaye Robinson, a councillor for Toronto, has breast cancer. Robinson’s condolence books and half-mast flags will be displayed on Saturday and Tuesday, according to Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, at North York Civic Centre and City Hall. Chow organized a commemorative Wednesday city council meeting.
The mayor and council members miss her work. Chow told reporters with council members that she would miss her passion for the arts and culture as well as her role in the community. “She is genuinely adored and has accomplished amazing work.”
Robinson served as a council member for Rob Ford and John Tory’s executive committee. She sat on the board of the Art Gallery of Ontario, led the TTC and public works committee, and managed the city’s road mortality eradication initiative, Vision Zero. She recently oversaw a councilman’s team that was getting the city ready for the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
Robinson ran for office after working as a senior economic development manager for 20 years, according to the city’s official website. Winterlicious, Summerlicious, and Nuit Blanche were some of her efforts. Doug Ford, council members from Toronto, and previous coworkers lament Robinson’s passing. Robinson was described as a “principled representative” by former mayor Tory.
In her statement, Tory states that she “fought hard for the people she represented at City Hall and more importantly, fought for the things she believed in.” Tory had “grace and determination” in the face of her diagnosis. She passed away too soon. Reward someone promptly for their good life and public duty “stated.”
“I extend my deepest sympathies to Councillor Jaye Robinson’s family and friends, as well as the people of Don Valley West, on behalf of our community,” Matlow said. Her devotion to our community and her service will always be valued.
I’ll miss her. Coun. Brad Bradford referred to Robinson as his “dear colleague” and his teacher. We spoke on the phone a lot last year. Bradford stated that X will be missed in Council and in our community since she battled for her constituents all the way to the end.
“I had the honor of working with her at City Hall; she was a committed public servant who was deeply committed to the people she served in Don Valley West,” the statement read. “Her family and loved ones are in my prayers and thoughts as they mourn this terrible loss.
” Robinson was “so much for her community,” according to Kristyn Wong-Tam, a former Toronto councillor and current MPP. There was passion for public service in every address. Wong-Tam, committed to a diverse Toronto, will be sorely missed. Matthew Pegg, Chief of Toronto Fire Services, expressed his “deepest condolences.”
