Jasmine Castro Death – The Thornton Police Department has made public a portion of the body camera footage, still images, and radio recordings from an incident that occurred in April. During this incident, the police fatally shot two individuals in Lakewood after claiming that one of them had fired at the officers.
The released footage, which was included in a video briefing on Friday, depicts a Thornton officer firing at two individuals as they exited a car through the driver’s side window after being stopped in Lakewood. Both individuals were shot by the police and were later pronounced dead at the location.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified one of the individuals killed by the police as Jasmine Castro, a 30-year-old. However, they have decided not to disclose the identity of the second person publicly, respecting the wishes of their family.
