Hamilton Heights High School principal, Jarrod Mason has passed away, he was a husband, father, outdoorsman, coach, and generally good dude. Jarrod was passionate about the youth. In 2018, Mason was selected as the District 5 High School Principal of the Year.
In the fall of 2008, Mason, who had graduated from Hamilton Heights High School in 1994, was hired to serve as the principal of the high school.
Mason took pleasure in the challenge of assisting students in gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the ever-increasingly complicated global situations into which they are constantly involved. During his time as principal, Mason has achieved a number of significant milestones, including raising the number of students who graduate, expanding the vocational education umbrella to better serve all students, and growing the dual credit curriculum options from four to over twenty courses.
According to Toni Bailey;
Keep the Heights community in your thoughts and prayers. We lost two significant principals recently. Jarrod Mason (current HHHS principal) and Bob Gordon (retired HHES principal). Both were hugely important to my education journey and not only gave inspiration and support, but were great role models. Both will be missed.
Mr. Gordon always had a smile on his face in elementary school and it was the first time I went down to the principal’s office. I was so scared and nervous, but I earned a Principal’s pride award and he took time to learn about the students and grow with them.
Mr. Mason was always so supportive of my education journey and cared about the students long after they graduated. It was always great to catch up quickly and to be part of something bigger than oneself.
Jarrod Mason Obituary and funeral plans will be released by the family…
